Our lifeline is broken...

Which may be a bit dramatic, but it might be difficult to get in touch with Mr and Ms Cook over the next couple of weeks, since an earthquake near Taiwan has knocked out all the undersea internet cables. It looks like the internet is starting to come back online over here, albeit in small and patchy pockets. Some websites work, like blogger for instance, but then others don't, like hotmail which is where we get all of our email. So while we can post our adventures here, there may not be much personal correspondance for awhile. If you need to get in touch with us, you are welcome to post us a message here, just remember that everyone who reads the blog will be able to read your message to us...

What else can we tell you all?

Christmas dinner was a smashing success. We had thirty guests, the food came out great, and many compliments were received. It was nice to have the event since it really didn't feel any different from any other day here until all the guests arrived. On the 27th we had a tour group come in for dinner and that too proved to be a success, despite the fact that they showed up later then expected and with three extra people. They were a racous group from the states who were happy to eat and drink late into the night - exactly the kind of customer we are looking for. Here's the menu we fed them:

Starter

Warehouse Spring Rolls
Fresh rice paper rolls filled with vegetables and mango. Served with a sweet and spicy Khmer dipping sauce.

Dinner

Your choice of:

Thai-Style Red Curry
A mildly spicy red curry with beef and potatoes. Served with a side of steamed rice.

OR

Sesame Noodles
Noodles dressed in a sesame peanut sauce served with chicken, bell peppers, carrots, and onion.

Dessert

Banana Fritters
A fried banana pastry served with a warm caramel sauce

Now we just have to keep our fingers crossed that the owner of the tour company was happy enough to keep bringing customers back... and of course fingers crossed that this internet problem sorts itself out soon!
